There are many reasons to recommend this book, from the beautiful characters to the good story line.In this book, romance is defined by a love between two people with magical powers. The main character in this book is named Ingrid, a beautiful girl with the power to bring strangers together. She is very mysterious, mysterious enough that even the other heroes of the book do not know how she got her powers.Ingrid's family has three different abilities. She has the ability to see invisible things, another ability is to touch people without their knowledge, and the third is to touch objects and put them into a certain container. Her mother used to travel the world and look for people who were having issues with their ability.This story takes place at Halloween. Ingrid and her friends make a plan to find the mysterious person with the ability to touch objects. The only problem with this plan is that it is the same person as another one Ingrid wanted to find, and she ends up spending the Halloween night chasing her.The characters in this book have great chemistry together, and they even grow apart from each other during the course of the story. This makes the reader fall in love with the story line, and they want to read more.The best part about this chemistry is that it is totally believable. The story is very easy to follow, and it is not heavy on the suspense. There is no need to worry about whether Ingrid is going to end up with the villain or not.The reader can just read and enjoy the story, and they will come out of the story with a greater understanding of human nature and the importance of friendship. If you love to read books, you should definitely give this book a try.

Connect with at least one neighbor or fellow resident In the fall, new folks are usually moving to new apartments if you live in a college town. It’s a smart idea to pay attention to whether new people are moving in nearby or next door to your apartment, and get to know them if possible. Even knowing just one other resident in your apartment complex or neighborhood can be a lifesaver if you need someone to watch over your doorstep if packages are dropped off while you’re not home, or if you just want to clarify something your landlord sent out in a blast email. Make an effort to at least stop by to say hello and exchange phone numbers if at all possible. Your peace of mind will increase! 3. Consider buying a safe If you own any extremely valuable items a fancy camera, an extra laptop, a pair of those mystifying yet cool Google glasses you might get a little more anxious than you normally would about the notion of someone ever breaking into your place. These items could be the first to go. The solution? Store them in a safe. This is just about the most secure way to protect valuables. College students might not see the need for a safe (I usually picture older folks actually owning and using safes), but it can be a great investment especially if you don’t live in the safest neighborhood. If you can’t afford one, consider storing expensive valuables in a very obscure and hard to access location (like the very top shelf of your closet, an area difficult for even you to reach unless you really needed something). To further enhance your apartment’s safety, consider getting renters insurance: a relatively inexpensive way to ensure that in the event of a break in/theft, your belongings would be replaced and you’d receive compensation equal to what was stolen. 4. If you live alone, don’t make it obvious Don’t go out of your way to tell people around you that you live alone. This sounds fundamental, but more often than not, folks will bring it up from time to time without realizing the dangerous repercussions of doing so. The more you mention living alone while talking with friends in public, the higher a chance there is of the wrong person overhearing and possibly showing up at your place with questionable intentions. At night, it’s good to leave a light on when you leave the house so that your house still looks occupied (and it helps you out upon your return, when you’d otherwise be fumbling around in the dark looking for a light switch). 5. Invest in a doormat In fall semester, rain starts becoming a thing again after many dry summer months (depending on where you live, of course). To minimize the chances of you slipping on your kitchen tiles upon arrival home from school, be sure to place a good quality doormat on your front step so that you can rub the mud or water off of your shoes before you go inside. Not only is this a simple fall safety tip, but it’s also a quick way to keep your floors cleaner. Students want to minimize the need to clean! Overall, to stay safe this fall, make sure you check that everything in your apartment is working properly: drains, faucets, door locks, etc. If something is defective or otherwise broken, contact your landlord right away before the issue worsens. You’ll want to make sure your place is up to date and fully functioning this fall before the air turns colder and weather conditions get wilder. They offer so many pros and cons including fabulous job experience and the chance to receive a recommendation, but the reality is they dont pay any money. Without the basic benefits of a minimum wage, interns often spend money in order to complete their internship programs. 1. Perspective Because interns will often spend money in order to complete an internship, (for example, work-appropriate attire, gasoline or public transportation costs, networking lunches that they otherwise couldnt afford etc) theyre advised to think of it as an investment. If interns view the internship as an actual class (most interns receive college credit) then they can think of their investment as tuition. When internships are viewed as a class they make more sense. We spend tons of money on tuition, fees, books etc to attend college and yet we work harder than ever. An internship is a form of on-the-job education. 2. Reality To be fair, the reality of an unpaid internship is that the interns are working for free. Many people have an inherent issue with this, and their feeling is entirely valid. Ultimately, students will have to reconcile whether considering an internship is the best option for them. However, several comparable opportunities are available to students in precarious financial positions; working as a Teacher Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA) or other academic position on campus are great ways to advance knowledge in the field while simultaneously earning money. Additionally, conducting volunteer work, in which a person is allowed to make their own schedule and determine their specific time contribution, is a good alternative. 3. Why are internships unpaid? From the perspective of the employer, the team often has to take time out of their day in order to help the intern learn about the inner workings of the office and get to know the intricacies of the field. This takes time out of their schedule and energy away from the companys financial goals. The company will generally view the interns contributions as a fair exchange for the amount of time spent on training. This is generally why college credit is given in lieu of a salary. 4. Watch out for scams Legitimate internships will generally require the intern to provide ample proof that they will receive college credit in exchange for their internship services. Summer internships should last no more than 2 to 3 months, making it a reasonable financial sacrifice for many Americans. Some legitimate internships may last as many as six months in certain situations. Unfortunately, many employers would like to have a free employee and advertise for an intern as a way of minimizing expenses. Many recent graduates will receive an unpaid internship with a verbal promise of being hired on full-time upon the completion of the initial intern period. Graduates considering this option should be 100% sure that they have a guaranteed offer of employment that is legally enforceable prior to accepting these types of jobs. More often than not, interns are let go for one reason or another only to be replaced by another unpaid employee. Without a solid contract or college credit the likelihood of being scammed increases. 5. Getting the most out of an internship Its important to put forth a best effort and attitude during a summer internship. Although interns will often make copies, go through filing cabinets, and make countless pots of coffee for the staff, they will also learn valuable skills. Interns should take every opportunity to learn about the intricacies of the company or the field they are working in and also network like crazy. The more connections an intern makes with employees, the more likely they will be to receive a reference later on. Interns who have the opportunity to eat lunch with the team, have a coffee after work, or otherwise socialize within the business world are highly encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities. Interns are also encouraged to be extremely positive and upbeat on the job; the more positive and friendly a person is the more likely it is for them to be hired in the future. Bottom line Although working for free presents a harsh financial reality for the majority of Americas young adults, if students can figure out a way to view their internship as a summer school course, they will have potentially endless job possibilities in the future. 6 Struggles All Retail Workers Can Relate To via Pexels.com 1. “Just Because It Doesn’t Have a Tag, Doesn’t Mean It’s Free”: I think that just about every retail worker in the world has uttered this phrase to some customer with a wild (and ignorant) sense of humor. Sure, they may just be joking around but after hearing that phrase over and over again while working, you reach a breaking point. Try someone else next time, Susan! Already heard that one! 2. “The Price on the Tag is the Real Price”: For some reason in the world of retail, some customers seem to be under the impression that there is a secret price behind the actual price tag on an item. Though there are times where items are incorrectly priced, 99% of the time, the price on the tag is the final price, no ifs, ands or butts. Just think about it from this angle: it’s literally my job to put prices on things, I think I got the hang of it. 3. “No I Can’t Give You a Discount for X,Y,Z”: Customers are always looking for a good deal, and I don’t blame them because I am the same way when I shop. One thing I don’t do, however, is berate the retail worker with discount questions when clearly there is no sign of me getting a discount. Sure, there are some places that have discounts for seniors, veterans and students, or special promotions on discount days, but these discounts are clearly labeled with signs. If there is no reason to believe there is a discount, there isn’t one, please stop asking! 4. “Yes, I Work Here!”: Though a very simple phrase, this is perhaps one of the most bothersome questions for someone who works in retail. I have a nametag, a lanyard and abide by my company’s work uniform, yes I do work here, I promise I’m not just dressing up! That only happens on Halloween if we’re lucky and I guarantee you I will NOT be wearing my work outfit on Halloween. Ever. 5. “Yeah, I Can Check the Back!”: A customer usually does not have bad intentions when they ask if an item absent on the floor might be in stock in the back. It’s a reasonable question, however, the harsh reality is I already know what the back looks like before you even ask. The even harsher reality is knowing there’s literally nothing in the back and still going back to check anyway because I want to delay telling you we don’t have that item and perhaps have two seconds of silence for the day. I’m sorry, we’re out of stock, but we can order it online to the store for you! 6. “Sure, I’ll Get my Manager”: There’s always that one customer that tried to return a used pair of pants, stained with no tag/no receipt that insists on the store policy of giving them their money back. Upon explaining the details of the policy to the customer, they insist they know better than me and want to talk to someone who actually knows what they are doing. Sure, I’ll bring you my manager, just so I can see you get roasted with the same exact information I gave you in the first place, no problem! Be sure to keep in mind when you say this, to have a big smile on your face for dramatic effect. Working in retail definitely has its struggles, but the great thing about it is that your co-workers all share the same struggle and you are all in this together (*cue High School Musical*); am I the only one who thinks that when I hear that phrase? Yeah? Ok.

Below, Italian teacher Liz T. shares the six most popular Italian dialects In the big boot of Italy, there are dozens of Italian dialects. In fact, almost every region has its own unique accent. While the literary Italian language is used throughout the country for law, business, and education, many people still use their region’s original Italian dialect. While it’s not necessary for you to learn every Italian dialect, familiarizing yourself with the most popular accents could come in handy when you’re traveling throughout Italy. Below is a breakdown of some of the most common Italian dialects. Review the list to help you recognize accents on your next trip to Italy! Milanese is  not actually classified as a form of Italian. Rather, its a dialect of the  Gallo-Italic sub-group that is  closely related to French and German. Similar to French and German, Milanese uses two additional vowels “ö” and “y” and subject pronouns are doubled in the second and third person. For example, the standard Italian phrase “Tu non sei” (You are not) is pronounced “ti te seet no” in Milanese. Spoken in Venice and the surrounding areas by over two million people, Venetian derives from Latin and Greek. The Italian dialect is  used mostly in informal contexts. One example of how it differs from standard Italian, is that in Venetian the word “Farmacia” (pharmacy) is replaced with “Apoteca. Florentine is the  most standard Italian dialect, commonly used by people under the age of 35. The dialect  uses nicknames of words. For example, the standard Italian word, “Formaggio” (cheese) is replaced with “Cacio” in Florentine. The further south you travel, the more heavy and harsh the Italian dialect  becomes. Also, because there are many immigrants that settle in Florence, there are several  different sounds that influence  the accent. In Romanesco, there are several deviations from standard Italian. For example, il turns into er and gli or I turns into li. Whats more,  the letter j is pronounced as i, whereas in the other Italian dialects its not. Typically, the  letter j  will appear in between two vowels or at the beginning of a word followed by a vowel. In Neapolitan,  a lot of vowels and endings are dropped. For example,  the standard Italian  â€œPiove” is written as  â€œChiove” in Neapolitan and Ci veddiamo dopo is written as “Ce verimm aròppo” Also, many traditional  Italian songs are written in this dialect, including the popular song “O sole mio”. Sicilians talk with such a thick accent that  people often mistake the dialect as a  completely different foreign languageand they are right! Sicilian doesnt derive from standard Italian. Rather it has linguistic elements from Greek, Latin, Arabic, French, Spanish, and more. Whats unique about this Italian dialect is that  plural endings of nouns end in  i, no matter what the gender. Mastering these Italian dialects can be tricky, but with the help of your Italian teacher you can practice speaking, reading, writing, and hearing these dialects together! Bona furtuna!
